As part of Melbourne Design Week 2025, Återvinna presents their debut solo exhibition, ReCycle – an exploration of the intersection of transformation, sustainability, and the evolving role of design in shaping a more responsible future. Specialising in furniture, objects and lighting, Återvinna reimagines recycled Australian hardwoods to create functional, sculptural pieces that breathe new life into discarded materials.
Inspired by the organic forms found in nature, the work merges contemporary Scandinavian aesthetics with enduring craftsmanship. Each piece challenges the conventional understanding of luxury and material value, proposing a new paradigm in which value is defined not by rarity, but by conscious design and the narrative carried in the material itself.
ReCycle celebrates design as an act of repair, highlighting its potential to heal, replenish, and reshape our world. By recontextualising waste as a resource, Återvinna invites viewers to reflect on the environmental impact of design and the choices we make as consumers. This exhibition is an invitation to reflect, engage, and act – imagining the future through the transformative lens of design and offering a compelling vision of the world we have the power to create.
